Subterranean termites are the most destructive wood
destroying insects in the United States. They are social
insects that live in large, underground colonies. Although
they could number in the millions, you might never see them
or any evidence of them - until they've done very serious
damage to your home. Your home may be attacked, no
matter how your home is constructed, where it's located, or
how old it is. They cause more than $2 billion in damage each
year, on average more property damage than caused by fire,
floods, and windstorm combined. Their presence is not
readily noticeable because they hide behind wallboards,
siding or wood trim.
Termites are not new to us. Their fossilized remains have
been found in formations some 55 million years ago, and to
this day, their diet has consisted solely of wood and cellulose
materials. In nature, they are an essential part of our
ecological systems by speeding up the natural cycle of
deterioration. They break down dead trees and other wood
materials that would otherwise accumulate. This breakdown
process recycles wood into humus, which provides nutrients
for plants and increases the ability of soil to retain water so
that new life can begin.
Our Solution
There are many termite control products available today.
Different pest management companies will try to sell you
various methods of controlling termites. However, here at
Connecticut Pest Elimination, we only use, Termidor® which is
the #1 termite elimination and defense product in the United
States. Termidor guarantees results that no other product
can match. The United States Department of Agriculture has
been conducting ongoing field trials of homes around the
world that were treated with Termidor over the past decade.
In all study sites, no signs of reinfestations have been found
by those homes treated with Termidor. This product is
unique because it has a delayed, undetectable Transfer
Effectâ„¢. Whenever a termite ingests or touches the
Termidor, it doesn't die immediately; it, in effect, becomes a
carrier," transferring Termidor to every other termite it
contacts, inadvertently making other termites carriers. This
process continues throughout the colony until its eliminated.
With Termidor, the colony will be gone within three months.
All of our termite work comes with an transferable
guarantee, though the length varies depending on the
structure. Unlike other companies, prior to the initial guarantee
expiration, the homeowner will receive a termite guarantee
extension that will include a re-inspection of the property and
treated areas. If new termite evidence is found, we will, of
course, retreat the structure at no additional cost. This termite
protection renewal is also transferable in the case of new
ownership.
Termite inspections are performed personally by Michael J. Lipsett, owner of Connecticut Pest Elimination, Inc. Michael
is appropriately licensed by the State of Connecticut and has performed thousands of wood destroying insect inspections.
All termite inspections are written up on a "Wood Destroying Insect Infestation Inspection Report" NPMA-33 Form. This
report is required for all FHA/VA loans.

If you see any of the following
warning signs, we will dispatch one of our licensed inspectors to evaluate:
- Dead Termites or wings around windows, doors, heating vents, or in bath tubs.
- Termite mud tubes on walls located outside or inside the structure. They usually look like their name - a tube of mud.
- Damaged wood - Termites eat from the inside of the wood out, so damaged wood is sometimes difficult to detect.
- Live termites - Termites are sometimes found while doing some remodeling or repair. Worker termites are small,
whitish insects that move quickly away when exposed to light.
